Wedding Chuppahs

I've got weddings on my mind.
This week I'll be speaking at an event from our local Jewish Historical Society about the history of Jewish weddings. In August, we'll be attending the wedding of our good friend's son (who we've known since he was a toddler!)

For me, one of the most exciting parts of a wedding is the chuppah. The chuppah is a public declaration that the couple now stands under one roof as husband and wife.  It is also symbolic of the new home they will establish as a married couple. There are so many directions to go with this...simple, rustic, decked out with flowers...the possibilities are endless and can set the tone for the whole wedding. Only a few rules apply: the four sides must be completely open, with a cloth attached to the tops  of four poles.

Here are ten of my favorites.
