One Cake, Three ways

You don't have to be a cake decorator to present the most charming cakes! I'm planning Yosef's third birthday party and sometimes the simplest solution is the best.

I picked up a plain white cake from the bakery department of my supermarket and came up with three ideas that are easy and very sweet for a toddler...
These mini balloons are actually water balloons! Note: you need a good set of lungs to blow these up...a small pump might help.

The pendant was made with washi tape, scrapbook letters and string.
You could spell the child's name, write Happy Birthday or any other message you'd like.

Since he is turning three years old, a number three seems appropriate.
I picked up a "house address" number at the home improvement store and gave it two coats of blue paint. It's glued to a skewer and I added three blue matching candles.
I'm having so much fun planning the party...more ideas coming this month!

  3. I like the number too. Maybe with the balloons. I often have the cake iced with a basket weave pattern and add fresh berries to the top. A friend taught me that trick years ago. My daughters birthday is coming up, and she can't pick a theme. I'm going to show her these. They don't need a theme, just a color scheme. Every party has to have a color scheme!!! Julie

  4. All great ideas. I adore the balloon one. I wonder how a candle could be incorporated? Perhaps a single number candle that is much shorter than the balloons?
