Welcome to Flowers on First!
I have a perennial garden and lots of annuals in pots, but I don't have a
cutting garden.
A cutting garden is a functional garden placed out of public view and is not artistically arranged, since the flowers are meant to be arranged in vases and enjoyed indoors. This way the garden near your house is safe from being pillaged of all its prize blooms, but you still get the benefit of having beautiful flowers in the house.

What
I can do with my garden is cut small bouquets, which can be
quite charming. These are
traditionally called nosegays, which dates back to medieval times and
simply means a small bouquet given as a gift. I like to scatter them
around the house and tuck them into
unexpected spots, such as a powder room or on a bedside table.
The first thing I did was cut tissue paper into circles...
I
love how the spring green color sets off the pinks and violets in the
flowers. I didn't take a picture of it, but cut a hole in the middle of
the circle big enough to fit your flower stems.
Here is what I put together with what I have blooming in the garden this month.
Try making some Nosegays to display in your home or to give as a gift!

Those little bouquets are so sweet. My mint is blooming, and I love filling in bouquets with it and strands of English ivy. I was deadheading my clematis and accidentally clipped some blooms. They have done very well in the little vase I put them in. With their short stems, they would be perfect for this treatment.
ReplyDeleteYes, and the mint smells wonderful, too!
Deleteso pretty! I hope you'll stop by and add this and any other posts you're proud of to my Wednesday What We Wore, Read, and Made Link party
